Mosaic provides strategic and administrative support to The Forum.

Since the late 1980s, The Forum (formerly LRF) has provided free-to-attend sessions for staff who are engaged in helping clients in a range of fields – homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, those involved with the criminal justice system, and others who are vulnerable or marginalised.

Sessions are usually led by invited experts who brief us on developments in the field before inviting discussion and feedback.

Meetings are always very lively, and represent a great opportunity to keep up to date, and share information about ways of working that your own projects are developing.

If you would like more information about any aspect of The Forum, please contact Stacey Raymen-Barker, The Forum Co-ordinator:

September 2013 session

The topic for our September session will be The Legal Rights of Children and Young People in the Criminal Justice System

It will be led by Laura Janes, who is Acting Legal Director at the Howard League for Penal Reform, and was involved in developing the Howard League's recent publication, 'Resettlement: The legal rights of children and young people in the criminal justice system in need of accommodation and support'.  The presentation, which is based on the guide, will particularly cover:

  • An introduction to the work of the Howard League and it's work on resettlement
  • The guiding legal principles that apply to everyone working with children and young people throughout the criminal justice system
  • Tips on how to help prepare young people for release, including applications for temporary release and contributing to the MAPPA (Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements) process.

The session will be held on 13 September at St Mungo's, 7 King's Bench Street, London SE1 0QX, and will run from 2.30-4.30. The nearest Tube stations are Waterloo East, Southwark and Borough.

The sessions are free to attend but places are limited so you must request a place by emailing us at the address below.

theforum@mosaic-training.co.uk

Numbers of places allocated to any one organisation may be restricted to ensure the widest possible representation.

We hope you will be able to attend.
