Around 10,000 young people leave care in England each year aged between 16-18 years old. Many leave home at a younger age and have more abrupt transitions to adulthood than their peers who are not looked after by the state.

This course is aimed at people who work with and support young people leaving care, and who want to empower care leavers with their transition into independent living.

The course will cover:

  • Separating facts from myths relating to care leavers
  • Insight into some of the theories and strategies in supporting care leavers
  • Understanding the process care leavers go through
  • Applying the knowledge gained to your own practice
  • Accessing further resources
