Professional boundaries have never been more important as organisations and individuals struggle with new ways of working and increasingly challenging situations for both staff and service users including increased use of online platforms and working from home.

This course focuses on how managers and frontline staff can adapt both personally and professionally to ensure that everyone remains physically and emotionally safe while delivering a high quality service. The first session will concentrate on the fundamentals and principles of good professional boundaries and the second will draw on scenarios from both participants and trainers for discussion and planning.

Our course covers:

  • Exploring what professional boundaries mean in the context of care and support work and why they are important for particular groups e.g. service users, staff and organisations
  • Examining the purpose and consequences of self disclosure in a therapeutic relationship
  • Considering how use of social media impacts on the working relationships with service users
  • Discussing a range of scenarios where boundaries can become blurred and think about how these can be best managed
  • Strategies for more effective communication around professional boundaries
