Domestic abuse is a safeguarding concern for a significant number of organisations. Explore with us some of the behaviours which constitute domestic abuse and learn how organisations can respond to ensure that victims are safeguarded effectively.

Our course covers:

  • The definition of domestic abuse, and debunking the myth that domestic abuse only relates to physical violence
  • The ‘warning signs’ that someone may be at risk of abuse
  • The prevalence of domestic abuse, including current statistics, facts and figures
  • Why victims stay; an overview of the barriers which can prevent victims from accessing help and support
  • An introduction into how the law around domestic abuse has changed, particularly in relation to coercive control
  • Safeguarding: what action is required if there is evidence that a client is at risk from domestic abuse
  • An overview of the support available for victims of domestic abuse; including the external controls which can be placed upon perpetrators
